Step-by-Step Update Instructions

  1. Pick a convenient time to do the update. The whole process will only take a few minutes, but all users will have to log back in after the update has completed.

  2. On your TimeTiger server, download the latest build of TimeTiger.

  3. If you have specifically configured the TimeTiger service set up to automatically restart on failure (in Start > Control Panel > Administrative Tools > Services), temporarily set the service to Take no action on failure.

  4. Make a full backup of your TimeTiger database.

  5. Run the update file you downloaded. You will be asked to confirm the update. After doing so, the window will disappear and there will appear to be nothing happening for up to 30 seconds. TimeTiger is updating itself in the background.

  6. After about 30 seconds, the TimeTiger service will automatically restart. On most systems a browser window will open and navigate to the Setup and Configuration page, however this may not happen depending on how Windows is configured. Even after the TimeTiger service has started, you may need to wait a few minutes for your actual TimeTiger application to come back online depending on the particulars of the update.

  7. If you disabled automatic restart on failure, you can re-enable it now.

  8. Confirm that you are able to log into TimeTiger normally.
