TimeTiger 1.8 Upgrade Instructions

This document describes how to upgrade to TimeTiger 1.8 from a previous version of TimeTiger. To upgrade to TimeTiger 2 Online, contact Technical Support to arrange to send us your TimeTiger 1.8 database for conversion to the new system and installation in our hosted environment.

Upgrading from TimeTiger for Workgroups 1.6 or TimeTiger 1.7 to TimeTiger 1.8 is straightforward. TimeTiger will automatically convert your existing database to either Microsoft Access 2000 format or SQL Server (which TimeTiger 1.8 fully supports). Simply follow these steps, and if you run into any questions or problems do not hesitate to e-mail (support@indigo1.com).

Upgrade from TimeTiger 1.7 (MS Access database) to TimeTiger 1.8
Upgrade from TimeTiger 1.7 (MS SQL Server database) to TimeTiger 1.8
Upgrade to TimeTiger/Web 1.8

Upgrade from TimeTiger for Workgroups 1.6 to TimeTiger 1.8

• Contact us for the latest build of TimeTiger 1.8.
• You will need a new TimeTiger authorization key after you install version 1.8. Contact us to get your version 1.8 authorization key if you do not have it already.
• Have all users exit TimeTiger.
• Backup your TimeTiger 1.6 database (.mdb file).
• Uninstall all versions of the TimeTiger application from each workstation by going to Start, Settings, Control Panel, choosing TimeTiger for Workgroups (or TimeTiger) and clicking Remove.
• Install TimeTiger 1.8 on a single workstation.
• Run TimeTiger 1.8. When asked to find a database, select "Convert/Upgrade an Existing TimeTiger Database".
• Follow the wizard through to completion. You will be first asked to select a location for your new TimeTiger 1.8 database, and then asked to locate the previous 1.6 database file. TimeTiger will automatically convert your data into the new database you select.
• Go to each of the remaining workstations and install TimeTiger 1.8. Run TimeTiger 1.8 and Locate your new TimeTiger 1.8 database.

Upgrade from TimeTiger 1.7 (MS Access database) to TimeTiger 1.8

Note that you can continue to use your existing TimeTiger 1.7 authorization key with TimeTiger 1.8. You do not need to upgrade the key.

• Contact us for the latest build of TimeTiger 1.8.
• Have all users exit TimeTiger.
• Backup your TimeTiger 1.7 database (.mdb file).
• Uninstall all versions of the TimeTiger application from each workstation by going to Start, Settings, Control Panel, choosing TimeTiger and clicking Remove.
• Install TimeTiger 1.8 on a single workstation.
• Run TimeTiger 1.8. When asked to find a database, select "Convert/Upgrade an Existing TimeTiger Database".
• Follow the wizard through to completion. You will be first asked to select a location for your new TimeTiger 1.8 database, and then asked to locate the previous 1.7 database file. TimeTiger will automatically convert your data into the new database you select.
• Go to each of the remaining workstations and install TimeTiger 1.8. Run TimeTiger 1.8 and Locate your new TimeTiger 1.8 database.

Upgrade from TimeTiger 1.7 (MS SQL Server database) to TimeTiger 1.8

Note that you can continue to use your existing TimeTiger 1.7 authorization key with TimeTiger 1.8. You do not need to upgrade the key.

• Contact us for the latest build of TimeTiger 1.8.
• Have all users exit TimeTiger.
• Backup your TimeTiger database using either TimeTiger's backup feature (in Tools, Options, Advanced) or MS SQL Server backup tools.
• Run the following SQL query against your TimeTiger database after you have backed it up.

        ALTER TABLE [Project]
        ALTER COLUMN [ProjectFile] [nvarchar] (255) NULL
        GO
        ALTER TABLE [User]
        ALTER COLUMN [Password] [nvarchar] (50) NULL
        GO
        UPDATE [Settings]
        SET [Value1] = '1.8'
        WHERE [Setting] = 'SYSTEM/DBVERSION'
        GO
    

• Uninstall all versions of the TimeTiger application from each workstation by going to Start, Settings, Control Panel, choosing TimeTiger and clicking Remove.
• Install TimeTiger 1.8 on each workstation. Run TimeTiger and Locate your TimeTiger database on the SQL Server.

TimeTiger/Web 1.8 Upgrade Instructions

If your organization uses the TimeTiger/Web component, you will need to upgrade that to version 1.8 as well. Contact us to obtain a copy of TimeTiger/Web. Follow the installation procedure. At the end of the setup process, you will be able to view the ReadMe file for additional instructions on configuring TimeTiger/Web.
